Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14 Year Old Highland Single Malt Whisky is part of Glenorangie’s range of whiskies with different extra matured wood finishes. This includes the Lasanta (Sherry Cask Finish) and the Nectar d’Or (Sauternes Cask Finish) however the Quinta Ruban is the darkest and most intense of the extra matured range.
Glenmorangie can trace its origins back to 1843 (although it is claimed that alcoholic drinks of some sort have been made in the area since the middle ages). There was a brewery on the site in the 1700s that used to brew using water from the famous Tarlogie springs that Glenmorangie use today. However the site did not become a distillery until it was purchased by William Matheson in 1843 who installed some old gin stills. Today the distillery is owned by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (who also own Ardbeg in Islay) and is recognised as one of the the top luxury Scotch whisky brands.
Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban is aged in American white oak casks for years before being transferred to Ruby Port pipes (500 litres aok casks) from Port estates in Portugal. This allows the whisky to develop into a voluptuous spirit with a complex balance of sweet and dry flavours and an intriguing contrast of smooth and crisp, cooling textures. Non chill-filtered for additional aroma and mouthfeel. Bottled at 46% ABV.
