Godet VSOP Cognac is blend of Cognacs from the Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Fins Bois regions skillfully blended by Jean Edouard Godet. A VSOP Cognac, or Very Superior Old Pale, is a Cognac of which the youngest eau-de-vie component is at least four years old. In fact Godet VSOP Cognac is aged for 10 years in cask and therefore easily exceeds the minimum requirements for VSOP.
Cognac Godet was founded in 1792 by the Godet Family and remained in Godet family hands until 1984 when it was sold to The Grand Metropolitan Group (later to become Diageo). However Jean-Jacques Godet, who had remained as CEO was able to buy the House of Godet back from The Grand Metropolitan Group in 1995. Today the 14th and 15th generations of the Godet family are still involved in managing the House of Godet and the Master Blender is Jean Edouard Godet. Cognac Godet are renowned for producing a range of both modern and traditional Cognacs, from a range of terroirs, with a great emphasis on hand-crafting, limited production and a long maturation period.
Godet VSOP Cognac is characterized by very well integrated tannins combined with some elements of florality on the nose. All that tinge with hazelnuts and peach jam to create a mellow and suave cognac. A present but velvetty persistence in the mouth makes it a very pleasant and easy to drink VSOP.
