Heaven’s Door Double Barrel Whiskey is a blend of two different straight Bourbons and one straight Rye whisky. It is bottled at 50% ABV (100% Proof).

Heaven’s Door Whiskey is a range of American whiskies created by Bob Dylan with some highly regarded craft distillers. The brand is inspired by Dylan’s restless spirit, passion for artistry, and deep roots in American culture and tradition.

The first three whiskies released are a Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey, a Double Barrel Whiskey and Straight Rye Whiskey which are finished in French oak barrels from Vosges which have been air-dried for three years. The bottles feature artwork modelled on the welded iron gates of Dylan’s metalworking studio, Black Buffalo Ironworks.

Since 2017, Marc Bushala, co-founder and CEO of Heaven’s Door Spirits, has been in charge of a new distillery in Pleasureville, Kentucky. The distillery has been producing small batches of exceptional bourbon on its custom Vendome still since 2018 and will open to the public in 2024. Industry veteran Ken Pierce has been brought in as Master Distiller to lead the project from design through distillation.

Heaven’s Door takes great pride in being at the forefront of sustainable distilling. The distillery sets an example by leveraging two underground aquifers to tap into pure limestone water for its distilling operations. Additionally, it employs geothermal heating and cooling systems in its buildings, further reducing its environmental impact. Through its dedication to sustainable practices, the distillery cultivates its own heirloom grains and recycles protein-rich mash from the fermentation process as feed for cattle on surrounding farms.

As mentioned above Heaven’s Door Double Barrel Whiskey the result of a unique blend of two straight Bourbons and one straight Rye whiskey. Each whiskey is aged independently in new oak barrels for a minimum of five years before blending and then aged for an additional 6 to 12 months in custom made Tonnellerie Radoux barrels that are seasoned for 24 months in the open air allowing the casks to develop its own unique character and complexity.

The whisky for the Double Barrel blend is all distilled in Tennessee at the B R Distilling Co. and the mash bill is:

Whiskey 1: 70% Corn, 22% Rye, 8% Malted Barley

Whiskey 2: 77% Corn, 15%Rye, 8% Malted Barley

Whiskey 3: 100% Rye

Bottled at 50% ABV with an age of 5+ years.

Tasting Notes

Heaven’s Door Double Barrel Whiskey’s high proof balances perfectly with the complexity of its flavour and notes of caramel, oak, citrus, and spice.

Nose: Maple with milled grains and a light nuttiness.

Palate: Caramel, dough, dark cherry, Meyer lemon. Dry oak, vanilla bean.
