Description

Henners Brut NV (Non Vintage) is a English Sparkling wine from Herstmonceux in East Sussex. It is  blend of 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier.

Henners Vineyard is locates approximately 4 miles from the coast in the village of Herstmonceux (famous for Herstmonceux Castle) next to the Pevensey Levels Nature Reserve. The 7 acre estate was founded by Lawrence Warr, an ex-Formula One engineer, in 2007. The estate was sold to wine distributor and producer Boutinot in 2017. The estate has a unique combination of warm well drained soils, southerly aspect slope coupled with low altitude. It is perhaps one the finest vineyard microclimate in the country. The estate is planted with the traditional sparkling wine varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.  The fruit produced is of the highest quality which means Boutinot can take a non-interventionist, hand-crafted approach in the winery. Vine clones and varieties are fermented separately to allow a broad palette of wines for final blending. Approximately 85% of the wine goes through malolactic fermentation. A proportion (10%) is fermented in aged oak barrels to add subtle character and layers to the wine. This wine spent approximately 36 months on its lees. Dosage of 7g/l.

The winemakers are Collette O’Leary and Colm Evans.
