Kendall Jackson Avant Cabernet Sauvignon is part of the KJ Avant range was launched in 2011. Kendall Jackson is one of the best known and largest, family owned wineries in the USA. It was founded by Jess Jackson who bought an 80-acre pear and walnut orchard and replants it with Chardonnay grapevines in Lake County, just north of Napa Valley. However, it wasn’t until 1982 Kendall Jackson was born.
The KJ Avant range takes its name from the French word for “before” and reflects the vibrant expression of the fruit before oak has the chance to impart much flavour. The grapes for Kendall Jackson Avant Cabernet Sauvignon are grown in California’s cool climate coastal vineyards in Monterey, Santa Barbara, Mendocino and Sonoma. The wines are barrel-aged for 7 months in French and American oak for toastiness and are aged on their lees to add classic creaminess and fatness.
Kendall Jackson takes sustainability very seriously: they have decreased water usage by 41% since 2008, they have the largest solar power farm in the wine industry, as well as using 100% certified renewable electricity, and all of their estate vineyards are certified sustainable by the CCSW Winegrowing program.
