KTW Iveria Tsinandali is a dry white wine from Georgia. It is produce from a blend of Rkatsiteli and Mtsvane (also known as Kakhuri Mtsvane) grapes grown in the Kakheti wine-growing region, the largest in Georgia.
Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking (KWT) is one of the largest wine and spirit producing companies in Georgia and the Caucasus region. The company was founded in 2001 and aims to preserve the history and traditional techniques (the use of earthenware amphora, called qvevri) of Georgian wine-making whilst also merging them with modern winemaking and innovation. KTW works with over 50 different indigenous grape varieties comprising 600 hectares of vineyards located in many different wine-growing regions of Georgia and produces many styles of wine including white, red and the famous semi-sweet red styles. Often regarded as “the birthplace of wine”, Georgia has over 500 native grape varieties.
As mentioned above the KTW Iveria Tsinandali is a blend of Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane. Rkatsiteli is one of the oldest grape varieties found in Georgia (clay vessels were found with seeds of Rkatsiteli grapes which date back to 3000 BC) and it has been used to make all sorts of wines from sweet to dry and sparkling. Mtsvane is often blended with Rkatsiteli to make dry, aromatic white wines. Its name means “new, young and green”. The grapes are grown on vineyards in the Tsinandali micro-zone at an altitude of 300 to 600 metres above sea level. After harvest and vinification, the wine is aged for 9 months in oak barrels.
KTW Iveria Tsinandali has a pale yellow colour. There are aromas of white peach with hints of banana and tropical fruits. The palate is elegant, complex and round with citrus notes and some oaky notes.
Perfectly matches fish, turkey, chicken and spring and summer salads.
