Description

Langmeil Blacksmith Cabernet Sauvignon is made from grapes sourced mainly from Langmeil’s old, pre-phylloxera and own-root vineyards located in the Barossa Valley wine-growing region.

Langmeil, the winery, is named after the village where it is located, has some of the oldest Shiraz vines in existence in the Barossa Valley. Whilst the Barossa is synonymous with full-bodied Shiraz, its Cabernet Sauvignon equally can produce wines of intense flavour and body. In 1843 a 32 year old Blacksmith, Christian Auricht, arrived from Prussia with his wife and four children. He settled in the new hamlet of Langmeil and built a smithy, around which grew the trading centre of the village. The artisan of iron has now made way for the new craftsman who has blended the oldest of Barossa traditions to forge this spectacular wine. The Lindner family who own Langmeil Winery have been immersed in the Barossa’s culture of farming, food, wine and community for six generations.

The Langmeil Blacksmith Cabernet Sauvignon, the unsung hero of Barossa wine. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvigon sourced entirely from the Barossa Valley from vineyards with an average age of 15 to 35 years old. The vineyards soils ranges from Biscay (black cracking clay) to red clay over limestone. The wine is aged in new (15%) and seasoned (85%) French Oak for 20 months which helps to achieve the structure, depth and balance expected from wines from this region.
