Description
MacDuff 2003 Vintage Speyside Single Malt Whisky is a single barrel bottling of whisky. The whisky was distilled in 2003 and was bottled in 2018 after an initial maturation in American Oak cask followed by a finishing period of maturation in ex Moscatel wine (sweet Spanish wine) casks.
The Cooper’s Choice is an independent bottling by the Vintage Malt Whisky Co. (VMWC). The VMWC was founded by Brian Cook in 1992, Brian is a honours graduate in Food Science with twenty year’s experience in the malt whisky industry, latterly as Export Director for one of Scotland’s principal distillers. The aim of the VMWC is to produce a range of malt whiskies from Scotland’s finest distilleries and to make them available to independent wine and spirit importers throughout the world – this is done under The Cooper’s Choice label. This old malt is individually bottled and presented under the distinctive Coopers Choice label. Casks of malts at different ages are selected from some of Scotland’s finest, but rarely bottled distilleries. They encompass all the varied tastes and flavours to be found from the Eastern coastline, to the Highland Valleys and all the way to the Western Isles.
The Macduff Distillery sits is located in the seaside town of the same name on the banks of the River Deveron, next to the Moray Firth. It is a modern distillery, built in 1960, and the whisky produced here is normally bottled as Glen Deveron or The Deveron, a popular brand in Italy. The spirit made here has a beautiful nutty character and good weight. The owners of the distillery are John Dewar & Sons, a subsidiary of Bacardi.
Only 330 bottles of MacDuff 2003 Vintage Speyside Single Malt Whisky were bottled in 2018. Cask Ref #703. Bottled at 50% ABV.
