Marc Bredif Chinon is a red wine from the Loire wine-growing region and is made from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes.
Domaine Bredif was founded in 1893 and is one of the most famous wine estates in the Loire. It was acquired by Baron Patrick de Ladoucette (arguably most famous for their Baron de L Pouilly Fumé) in 1980. The wines of Marc Bredif deliver consistent value.
The Cabernet Franc grapes for the Marc Bredif Chinon grow in the northern part of the Chinon area, in Savigny-en-Véron and wines are vinified in the state-of-the art winery within the landmark Château du Noze. The Cabernet Franc vines have an average age of 15 years. The vineyards are principally gravelly, with varying proportions of clay, and have mostly north / south sun exposure.
After harvest the grapes for Marc Bredif Chinon are destemmed. Fermentation lasts 15 days on skins with pumping-over twice a day. There is a gentle pressing and final fermentation of clear juice. The wines is then transferred to vats for malolactic fermentation prior to maturation in stainless-steel tanks with regular racking.
Marc Bredif Chinon is intense, refined and fruity on the nose. Nuances of cherry, strawberry and spicy notes. In the mouth, a subtle attack; fruity, light structure. Fresh and aromatic finish.
