Description

Marc Bredif Vouvray Classic is a slightly off dry style white wine made from 100% Chenin Blanc. It is produced from grapes grown in the Loire Valley by Domaines de Ladoucette. Vouvray can be produced in many styles, this one is made in the slightly off dry style.

Marc Bredif, with its majestic cellars in the heart of the Touraine, has been one of the most famous Vouvray and Chinon houses since 1893. When Baron Patrick de Ladoucette took over the house in 1980, he breathed new life into the century old winery, while preserving its traditions. The key to any de Ladoucette wine is quality in the vineyard, the winery and the bottle. The Baron de Ladoucette is dedicated to maintaining exceptionally high standards throughout his portfolio. The wines are made in the state-of-the art winery within the landmark Château du Nozet and are considered to be some of the finest examples of their type.

Today, Marc Bredif continues to produce Vouvray, including some fantastic sparkling and sweet wines, and Chinon red wines of the finest quality. The history of the wines of Vouvray is directly linked to the religious history of Touraine. From the 4th century onwards, the monks owned most of the vineyards, including the best growths. The cellars of Marc Bredif are among the biggest and most beautiful of the appellation and the digging of the Tuffé hillsides to make them began in the 8th century.

The 100% Chenin Blanc grapes are grown on the lower slopes along the Loire Valley in Vouvray and Vernou-sur-Brenne. The vineyards have soils of mainly chalk clay, with some parcels having flint clay soils. The vineyards are 25-30 years old on average. The wine undergoes temperature controlled fermentation to retain its fresh structure and aromatic finish and is then matured on its lees for a further 6 months prior to release.

Marc Bredif Vouvray Classic is suitable for vegetarians.

Tasting Notes

Marc Bredif Vouvray Classic is a beautiful crystalline pale yellow. A fine nose reminiscent of well-ripe yellow fruits (peach and pear), to which are added notes of exotic fruits such as pineapple and shades of citrus. The attack is full and rich, with a lot of volume, evolving on a lemony freshness and long and lively exotic fruit finish.

Food Pairing

Vouvray is a versatile wine that can pair well with a variety of foods. Try with seafood: Oysters, scallops, lobster, and other seafood pair perfectly with the crisp acidity and minerality of Vouvray. It is a great match for chicken, duck, and other poultry dishes complement the light, refreshing nature of Vouvray. Try pairing with soft cheeses like Brie, goat cheese, and Camembert. Fruity dishes, such as fruit salads or fruit tart, can also pair well with Vouvray.
