Millstone 10 year old American Oak Dutch Single Malt Whisky is a Dutch whisky made by Zuidam Distillers.
Zuidam Distillers was started back in 1975 by Fred van Zuidam. The idea was to start a small distillery that only produced very exclusive products. He built a small distillery of 300 square meters with 1 small copper still and 1 small production line. Millstone Whisky is still today hand crafted in the traditional distillery that is owned and operated by the Zuidam Family. More than 50 years of experience in distilling of exclusive spirits and a constant search for perfection has led to the birth of this exquisite whisky.
Windmills are used to mill the malted barley that is used to produce this Malt Whisky. In using windmills the distillery helps preserve the important Dutch heritage of the world famous windmills. Even more importantly the traditional millstones of the windmills slowly grind the malted barley into flour. This traditional way of milling causes almost no increase in the temperature of the grain and thus helps preserve the wonderful aromas.
Millstone 10 year old American Oak Dutch Single Malt Whisky is, as the name suggests, aged in new American oak. These barrels add a rich vanilla and honey sweetness to the whisky with delicate notes of coconut and spices like cinnamon and cloves.
Millstone 10 year old American Oak has delicate tones of fruit and honey on the nose combined with vanilla and wood and a hint of coconuts. The palate has rich honey sweetness, delicate spicy notes and a long vanilla oak finish.
