Louis Jadot Monthelie Sous Roches is a red wine from the commune of Monthelie in the Cote de Beaune wine growing region of Burgundy. It is a small village located between the much more well-known villages of Volnay and Meursault. The “Sous Roches” place is located at the the north east of the vineyards. The vineyard was purchased in 2010 and is quite large, for Burgundy, at 1.16 hectares. It has good eastern exposure but with a relatively high altitude it can be quite difficult to cultivate. The soil is clay and stone, with stones at the surface.
The grapes Louis Jadot Monthelie Sous Roches are destemmed and fermented in open vats for about 3 weeks. The wine is then aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels prior to bottling.
