Prado Fonzaleche is a Reserva Rioja made by Bodegas San Martin de Abalos. Bodegas San Martin de Abalos was founded in 1998 by the Gutierrez Abalos family. The Bodega is located in the village of Fonzaleche in the heart of the Tiron valley. It is an historic village whose origins can be traced back to the 11th century. The winery is modern with temperature controlled stainless steel vats. Prado Fonzaleche Reserva Rioja is made from a selection of the best grapes available to Bodegas San Martin de Abalos and it is a blend of predominantly Tempranillo with Garnacha and some Viura – a white grape, this is quite unusual. The wine is aged in 225 Litre American oak barrels for 720 days. The wine is racked three times a year to remove sediment and to give a benificial aeration to the wine.
