Tedeschi La Fabriseria Valpolicella DOC Classico Superiore is a blend of late-harvested 35% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 30% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta grapes.
Tedeschi has a long and varied history stretching back to 1824 when Nicolo Tedeschi purchased several vineyards in the Valpolicella region and, today, Tedeschi remains a family business. It is one of the foremost producers of Amarone, Ripasso and Recioto wines, in the Veneto region. In total, the family manages some 74 hectares of vineyards, of which 29 are family owned.
The grapes for the Tedeschi La Fabriseria Valpolicella DOC Classico Superiore are sourced from La Fabriseria vineyard with in the Valpolicella Classico Region in the Sant’Ambrogio and Fumane communes. The grapes are left to over-ripen on the vine and are harvested late in mid October. The vines have an average age of 15 years and yields are low – the wine yield per hectare is very low and does not exceed that of the Amarone wine. The wine is aged in Slavonian oak barrels for 24 months, prior to 6 months in bottle before release.
Try with game, red meats and aged hard cheeses.
Tedeschi La Fabriseria Valpolicella has a clear and transparent ruby red colour. The nose has hints of black currant, sour cherry, cherry, and prune gives freshness to the wine and is combined with hints of minerals and vanilla. The palate is rich, structured and well-balanced. There is a good concentration and tannic structure balance with a lively acidity and by an alcohol content that insures a good aging potential. The retro-olfaction confirms the nose notes. It is an elegant wine with a long finish.
