Tequila 818 Anejo is made from made from 100% Blue Weber Agaves and is aged for a minimum of 12 months in American oak barrels. They also produce a Blanco , a Reposado and the Eight Reserve.
Tequila 818 is a premium brand of tequila co-founded by Kendall Jenner and business partner, President of JAJA Spirits, Maurice Tebele. It was launched in Spring 2021 and is named 818 after the area code of Calabasas in California, where Kendall grew up.
Tequila 818 has quickly made a name for itself with its commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and a modern approach to tequila production. The company works closely with family run farms the Los Valles region of Tequila in Jalisco, Mexico. Skilled Jimadores, the local name for the agave harvesters, harvest agave which are at least 7 years old and at the peak of their maturity. The agave “pinas” are roasted in ovens for 30 hours which are then crushed in large stone “tahonas” to release their juice.
The extracted juice, which is called “mosto,” is then fermented in wood and stainless steel tanks for around 48 hours, with leftover agave fibres from the tahonas, inoculated with native yeast for a deeper aromatic expression. The tequila is then double distilled in handmade copper alembic pot stills, first to 24% alcohol volume, and then to 48% alcohol volume. After distillation, the aged tequilas, the Reposado and Anejo, are aged in both American and French oak at still strength.
As mentioned above, Tequila 818 Anejo is aged for 12 months in American oak barrels resulting in a smooth, well-rounded flavour
