Description

Torres Jaime 1 Brandy is the oldest Spanish Brandy in the Torres range. It is produced entirely from the Parellada grape variety and boasts exceptionally long ageing using the traditional solera method. It pays tribute to the founder of Bodegas Torres, Don Jaime Torres.

Torres was founded in 1870 and remains family-owned nearly some 150 years later.  The Torres family has been making wine in the ancient Catalán town of Vilafranca del Penedès, south-west of Barcelona, since the 17th Century. It is this tradition combined with innovation, dynamism and commitment to quality that has put Torres firmly on the world map. Torres Jaime 1 Brandy is produced from very old “soleras”  of distilled white wines. Some of the soleras started off as  the distilled Parellada wines destined for Torres 10 Gran Reserva Brandy, which have been kept aside for many years to create a valuable reserve stock. These old reserves have been enriched with brandy form the best soleras, the oldest being 30 years old. 

The distinctive Torres Jaime 1 Brandy bottle is modelled after the The Casa Milá, known as “La Pedrera”, one of the most iconic, modernist buildings in Barcelona which was designed by the famous Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi and built between  1906 and 1912. The Gaudi-inspired bottle was designed by noted Japanese architect Hiroya Tanaka.
