Tosolini Most Ice is a new product from Bepi Tosolini, an Acquavite d’Uva that is designed to be served at sub-zero temperatures – Tosolini recommend serving it at -10°c. Acquavite d’Uva is a sort of intermediate product between Grape Brandy and Grappa.
Located at the foot of the eastern Friulian hills, Tosolini’s modern facility maintains its original installations and ensures the authenticity of its product. The art inspired by Bepi Tosolini lives on in his successors, now third-generation distillers. His son Giovanni, along with his grandchildren Giuseppe, Bruno and Lisa, now carry on the Tosolini legacy. Together, they strive to keep the craftsmanship and excellence of Master Bepi alive through a relentless pursuit of quality and purity. They are most famous as grappa producers but produce various Italian spirits too.
Tosolini Most Ice is made by distilling wine (like a brandy) but also with the grape must as well (Grappa is fermented grape must by itself). It is made from a blend of typical Fruilian grape varietes such as Cabernet, Merlot, Tocai and Pinot Grigio. Although Bepi Tosolini is a very traditional producer and distiller they have also always been at the forefront of innovation and development (they were the first Grappa producer to age Grappa in ash barrels for example). Tosolini Most Ice is distilled in a traditional copper alembic pot still.
When served Sottozero (sub-zero) reveals a surprising bouquet and is dry and fruity. It can be served sub-zero on its own, with a small dish of sour cherries, which one should eat before one tries the Most, or in cocktails.
