Description

Trapiche Estacion 1883 Cabernet Franc is a red wine made with grapes sourced from the Mendoza wine-growing region of Argentina.

Trapiche are located in Mendoza at the foothills of the Andes. Over the last 125 years Trapiche’s reputation has grown because of their pioneering and innovative spirit and their dedication to quality and diversity to produce the highest quality wines. They represent the richness of diversity in Argentina, with over a 1000 ha of their own vineyards and taking advantage of the different soils and climates, Trapiche have specialised in obtaining the best fruit from their terroir. Under the supervision of head winemaker Daniel Pi the best terroirs possible for each grape variety are carefully chosen. Trapiche was founded in 1883 and the winery was built next to a train station (estacion is Spanish for station) and the Trapiche Estacion range of wines commemorates this. This allowed barrels of wine to be easily loaded onto the railway wagons and gave Trapiche an extra advantage in getting their wines to market and onward to ports for export.

Trapiche Estacion 1883 Cabernet Franc is 100% Cabernet Franc sourced from Trapiche’s Las Palmas vineyard in Maipú, Mendoza. Grapes are whole bunch hand harvested to ensure the best fruit is selected. All the fruit is destemmed followed by fermentation and maceration in small concrete tanks for 25 days at around 23-25ºC. Fermentation is followed by a gentle pneumatic pressing and a natural malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 15 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels before being filtered and bottled.

Cabernet Franc is a red wine grape variety that is most commonly grown in France, particularly in the Loire Valley region. It is also widely planted in other wine-growing regions around the world, including the United States, South Africa, Italy, Chile and Australia.

This wine is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
