Description

Umani Ronchi Casal di Serra Verdicchio Dei Castelli Di Jesi is a white wine from the Marche region of Italy made with 100% Verdicchio grapes.

Umani Ronchi owns 110 hectares in the Verdicchio Classico area, 60 hectares in the Rosso Conero, and 30 in Abruzzi. This part of Italy is framed by glorious hills that meet the waters of the Adriatic Sea. Umani Ronchi prides itself as the leading exponent of the two major wines of the Marche, Verdicchio and Rosso Conero, as well as being one of the principle producers of wines from the neighbouring Abruzzi region.

Umani Ronchi Casal di Serra Verdicchio Dei Castelli Di Jesi was created in the 1980s by selecting the best grapes grown in the Montecarotto vineyard, and later enriched with grapes from another three plots situated in the most suitable areas for cultivating Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. Ripeness is ensured by harvesting slightly later than usual, and yields are kept very low (80/90 hundredweight/hectare, less than half the usual for Verdicchio). Grapes are hand harvested and pumped into a Vaslin press. A proportion of the wine undergoes a cold soak process, which allows a better extraction of varietal characteristics. Following this, the wine is matured in stainless steel tanks for 5 months, after which it is bottle aged for a few more months prior to release.

Umani Ronchi Casal di Serra Verdicchio Dei Castelli Di Jesi is a vegetarian and vegan friendly wine.

The name “Verdicchio” is derived from the Italian word “verde,” meaning green, which refers to the greenish hue that the grape berries take on when they reach full ripeness. This grape variety has a long history in the Marche region, with evidence suggesting that it has been cultivated there since at least the 14th century.  It is one of the most important and widely planted grape varieties in he central region of Italy.

Tasting Notes

Straw yellow colour with golden hints, to the nose it shows intense and persistent perfumes of wild flowers and aromas of yellow pulp fruit such as peach, apricot and golden apple. To the palate it’s rich and velvety with a good dose of freshness and sapidity to balance the great softness. Dry finish, persistent and intensely fruity.

Food Pairing

Umani Ronchi Casal di Serra Verdicchio is ideal with fish dishes, oven-cooked or grilled, roast white meat and fresh cheeses.
