Villiger Export Pressed Cigars are probably one of the most recognisable and most popular cigars it the world. It is Switzerland’s No.1 cigar and Villiger’s best known international brand selling over 500 million units per year. Villigar have been making cigars since 1888. The company was founded by Jean Villiger in the small town of Pfeffikon, Switzerland, where Villiger remains headquartered to this day. The sell over 1.5 billion cigars per year! Today the cigars are made in Germany.
Villiger Export Round Cigars are machine made in Switzerland with a balanced, pronounced Cuban seed blend and a high-quality original Sumatra wrapper. The filler tobacco is a blend of tobaccos derived from Cuban seeds grown in Brazil, Nicaragua, Dominican, Indonesia and Italy – it is reminiscent in flavour to Cuban short filler. The Sumatra wrapper (Sumatra is a sub-species of black tobacco, it can be grown anywhere) is from Nicaragua.
Villiger Export Pressed Cigars are a great value short cigar and came to be known as “Havana of the ordinary people”. These box pressed cigar with its square cross-section are a rich, slightly sweet and very smooth smoke for a unique small cigar experience. A perfect 20 to 30 minute cigar and great with a single malt whisky.
Villiger Export Pressed Cigars are presented in packed of 5 cigars wrapped in a cellophane wrapper, the cigars are individually wrapped in tissue paper. No cigar cutter required.
Please note, these use the same tobacco blend as the Villiger Export Round but are pressed into a square shape. Some say they prefer the square, pressed shape.
Villiger Export Pressed cigars have a mild to medium-bodied flavor. It has a strong cedar flavour with spicy, peppery notes and a slight nutty flavour. A faint sweetness is also present, which helps to balance out the other flavours. Good depth and complexity.
Smoke time is around 20 to 30 minutes. The cigar’s smaller size makes it an excellent option for a quick smoke when time is short, either during a lunch break or as a treat after dinner.
