Viu Manent Secret de Viu Manent Viognier is made from grapes from the Valle de Colchagua.
Viu Manent is a family owned business founded in 1935 by expatriate Catalan Miguel Viu Garcia and sons. Initially the family prospered as a negociant wine business but, in 1966, they finally fulfilled the dream of owning their own winery with the purchase of the Hacienda San Carlos de Cunaco. It is here in the Colchagua valley where their vineyards are located and the estate includes 150 hectares of pre-phylloxera vines. Today the estate totals over 260 hectares of vineyards spread over three locations San Carlos, La Capilla and El Olivar with some vineyards in Casablanca for their white wines.
The Secret de Viu Manent wines are made in a modern style and make the most of the primary fruit characteristics of each grape variety. Whilst the dominant grape variety is expressed on the label, 15% of the blend of each wine is kept a closely guarded secret. The labels were created by Chilean artist Catalina Abbott and each is an interpretation of a secret.
The grapes that make Viu Manent Secret de Viu Manent Viognier were sourced from San Carlos vineyard on the Viu Manent estate. The warm days, cool nights and moderating breezes from the Andres and the Pacific produce grapes with good natural acidity and well developed fruit flavours resulting in wines with ripe flavours and balancing fresh acidity. Vinified in stainless steel, no oak.
