The King’s Ginger is a ginger flavoured liqueur bottles at 41% abv and produced in The Netherlands exclusively for the famous wine merchant for Berry Bros & Rudd. The King’s Ginger was created for King Edward VII in 1903. The story goes that the Royal Doctor was worried about the monarch’s health as King Edward took to driving around in the open air in his new horseless carriage (a new-fangled Daimler!) and so the doctor commissioned Berry Bros to create a warming and reviving liqueur for the King.
The King’s Ginger is a high strength liqueur, bottled at 41% abv. It is made in the Netherlands by a careful maceration of ginger root in alcohol with the addition of some citrus notes from lemon oil and sweetness from added sugar. The result is a a rich, light and zesty straw-coloured liqueur which is equally at home in a hop flask or in cocktails.

The King’s Ginger Tasting Notes
It has a seductively golden in colour. The nose has an instantly warming aroma of ginger, zesty lemon, sherbet and golden syrup. The palate shows initial sweetness followed by bite of ginger and lemon tart. Deliciously satisfying and warming mouthfeel. Lingering and extremely long.
Reviews: “Aromatic and citric on the nose. Fresh and very gingery” – Dave Broom
“God it was good. It was like having all my blood replaced with a cocktail of warm ass’s milk and pethidine while someone poured hot gingery honey down my throat. Nectar of the gods.” Jeremy Clarkson – The Sunday Times – Probably the first and last time I will ever see a Clarkson review of one of the products we sell!!
