Fort Gin, The Portsmouth Distillery Co 41%
Botanicals inspired by foraging around the fort and include locally foraged Elderflower, Gorse Flowers and Sea Radish (Raphanus maritimus). Alongside these local maritime influenced coastal botanicals, the other botanical include Juniper (of course), Lime, Sweet Orange, Red Peppercorns and Szechuan Pepper.
Silverback Mountain Strength Gin 46%
Gorilla Spirits recommend Peter Spanton Drinks No 9 Cardamon Tonic Water to make the ultimate G’n’T. The heady cardamon fragrance and green freshness of the tonic water match perfectly with Silverback Gin. Garnish with an inch long strip of orange to complement the sweet orange citrus botanical in the gin. £1 from every bottled is donated to the Gorilla Foundation.
Mermaid Gin, Isle of Wight Distillery 42%
The idea behind the Wight Mermaids Gin is to produce a gin with a sense of place by using carefully selected local ingredients and botanicals. The botanicals include, Juniper Berries, Rock Samphire, VBG Boudicea Hops, English Coriander Seed, Fresh Lemon Zest, Angelica Root, Liquorice Root, Grains of Paradise, Orris Root and Elderflower.
Twisted Nose Watercress Dry Gin 70cl 40%
Good clear colour with a slightly blue-ish tinge. Nose: The nose is spicy and peppery. There are floral notes, a big hit of citrus fruit and some more spicy coriander and anise (fennel) notes. Palate: The citrus really comes through on the palate with lots of pink grapefruit. There are more floral and fennel flavours. Finish: Very nice, clear, dry finish with very good length. Twisted Nose was one of the first of the new wave Hampshire Gin producers.
